Mission Statement

The specific purpose of MyMigraineJournal.com now available (11/2009) for free registration in beta-test version is to help migraine sufferers conveniently log both their headaches and their exposure to potential headache triggers, and to help them figure out which of these potential triggers are causing their migraines (tell me more about migraine triggers in general).  Users receive customizable and convenient daily online questionnaires asking about symptoms and exposure to potential triggers. The website stores this information and periodically carries out a sophisticated automated statistical analysis (tell me more!) to help pinpoint which triggers (if any) seem to be associated with a meaningful increase in headache risk.  In addition, the website offers additional features to help the user maintain organized records about his or her migraines, e.g., on headache days you can enter narrative information about the headache, and any time you wish, you can download a calendar (in pdf format) showing on what days you had headaches. Moreover, you can even download your entire dataset as an Excel chart, so you can study or analyze it yourself.

The website has a strong privacy policy: we do not ask for any personal details beyond what we need to send you the daily questionnaire (namely, a valid email address and a password).  If you choose to stop using the site at any time, you can have the system delete your email and login information. (However, to promote research on migraine triggering, from time to time we may provide a fully anonymized record of our dataset to qualified investigators who seek to learn more about migraine triggering; see Privacy Policy for details.)

Our broader mission is to develop a suite of programs that will allow people to look for potential trigger factors for any problem that may be bothering them--not just migraine headaches. In 2010 we will launch a new website that is similar to MyMigraineJournal.com but which allows users to customize their symptom and trigger questions without limit to explore the causes of any problem or complaint that concerns them--whether it be a child's temper tantrums, intestinal complaints, anxiety, arthritis flare-ups, etc.
